Solex Agitator

The Solex Agitator is a small but very powerful device, used in the movie The Man With The Golden Gun (1974). In the film, the Solex Agitator is a device which can harness solar energy, created by British scientist Gibson as a solution to the global energy crisis. Gibson gets killed by Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee) and Nick Nack steals the Solex after the assassination. Scaramanga then offers the Solex to the highest bidder, and includes a solar-powered laser cannon with it, "no extra charge". Eventually James Bond (Roger Moore) and Mary Goodnight (Britt Ekland) are able to get the device back.

The Solex Agitator is a fictional device, and it was designed and created for the movie. One of the original movie props was sold at an auction at Christie's in 2012 for £55,000 (approx. $85,000 or €70,000). The item on auction has a circuit board encased in resin, the metal casing engraved on the front H/220, and engraved post-production 'James Bond', the back engraved A/6B and H/220, with a Bond archive label.

In 2014, a very accurate prop replica was created by Bond fan Quartermaster Mick (see photo on top of this page). The case of the replica is machined from a solid aluminium block. The electronic circuit board and components are encased in clear resin, just like the original prop. There are over 50 component parts used in the piece.

The right sleeve is longer than the left and displays a long slit along the seam in order to allow the use of Tee Hee’s prosthetic pincer hand. The shark fin is hollow and is made of fiberglass that is painted matt brown. The air pellet is made of polished metal, with a small black, rubber ring around the bottom of the round that attaches to the screw top. Both pieces show light wear from production and age, but remain in great condition. Accompanying each piece is a letter of authenticity from William Grefe, who is credited for his work on the shark scenes. Victor-Class Submarine Model Miniature
JAMES BOND: THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999)

Victor-Class Submarine Model Miniature

A Victor-class submarine model miniature from Michael Apted’s Bond movie The World Is Not Enough. James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) and Dr. Christmas Jones (Denise Richards) successfully controlled the submarine’s detonation during the film’s climatic scenes, after terrorist Renard (Robert Carlyle) unsuccessfully inserted a plutonium rod in the submarine’s reactor.

Constructed by Turks Shipyard, this large remote-control model miniature was used for underwater exterior shots of the submarine. Based on the design of vintage Soviet Victor-class nuclear submarines, this version has no capacity for a crew and would have been controlled by one person wearing full diving equipment with breathing apparatus.

Weighing approximately five tonnes, the model comprises an internal frame constructed from a combination of plywood and metal, with a black fibreglass exterior shell featuring multiple small square faux-ballast tank ports. Various features adorn the outside of the submarine, including eight oval-shaped torpedo launchers at the front, moveable sail planes, a rudder, a metal brass-coloured propeller, an opening hatch at the top and three winch points for transportation purposes. The Walther PPK that was handed to James Bond (Sean Connery) by 'M' (Bernard Lee) in the first Bond film Dr No (1962) is set to be auctioned on Thursday 6 December 2018 at Humbert & Ellis in the UK.

Update 28 November 2018: the provenance and claims about the appearance of the gun in Dr No is questioned, more on the AJB forum.

Update 29 November 2018: the auction has now been canceled by the auction house, after doubts about the provenance of the item.

Walther PPK auction Humbert Ellis prop James Bond Dr No

Lot 441 at the Jewellery, Antiques, Registration Plates & Furniture Auction is a presentation case (52cm x 72cm), containing the actual (EU deactivated) Walther PPK pistol, a montage of facsimile James Bond advertising photographs and an engraved brass plate Walther PPK. Complete with current EU Deactivation Certificate No 3644 dated 23/1/2018 and bearing serial number 149894.

The item also comes with a signed letter from Bernard Lee, dated 1974, which explains how the gun ended up in the film.

"Dear Jane, I know you will not accept anything in return for all your help and the kindness that you and John have shown to me throughout these trying times but my conscience will not let it go unrewarded. Enclosed is a small token of my gratitude that I would like your boy to have as and when you see fit. This Walther pistol numbered 149894 is a small piece of 007 history. As you are aware I have played the part of M in several of the James Bond films. The first of these, Doctor No contained a scene in which Sean was scolded by myself about his choice of firearm. His Beretta pistol was replaced by a Walther pistol. On the day of the take the pistol that was to be used was not going to be available, so I took into the studio and used for the scene this pistol which I have had for many years. (It was fully functional at the time, I have since removed the firing pin). This pistol is there for the first one ever to appear in a James Bond film. Yours very sincerely, John Bernard Lee"

Walther PPK James Bond 007 auction Dr No

Bernard Lee played the role of M in 11 Bond films, from Dr. No. (1962) to Moonraker (1979).

The auction websites states that the Walther PPK was the personal property of Bernard Lee (who played M) and was gifted to the vendor (referred to as 'your boy' in above letter). The auction website claims that according to EON Productions - the 'call list' for this scene (list of props required for filming) included 'a gun' however, said gun was not available at the time of filming, so Bernard Lee brought in his own. Later in the film, a Walther PP, not a PPK, was in fact used - and likely Bernard Lee's 'live and unregistered' PPK was inappropriate for filming on location and EON's PP was the only substitute available. According to Humbert & Ellis this is therefore the first of the famous James Bond Walther PPKs to appear in a Bond film.

Bids for this item starts at £30,000.

The auction of a Walther PPK claimed to be the first PPK in a Bond film has been cancelled by the auction house Humbert & Ellis.

News about auction of the PPK was reported by BBC and picked up by other websites including Bond Lifestyle, but quickly garnered scepticism from Bond fans about the provenance of the gun.

Walther PPK auction Humbert Ellis prop James Bond Dr No

A statement by Humbert & Ellis on their website reads:

“Lot 441 the ‘Bond Gun’ has regretfully been withdrawn from sale. Accordingly it will not feature in our forthcoming auction of December 6th”

The PPK on offer came with a signed letter from Bernard Lee, dated 1974, which supposedly explained how the gun ended up in the film.

(It was fully functional at the time, I have since removed the firing pin). This pistol is there for the first one ever to appear in a James Bond film. Yours very sincerely, John Bernard Lee"

Bernard Lee played the role of M in 11 Bond films, from Dr. No. (1962) to Moonraker (1979).

The auction websites stated that the Walther PPK was the personal property of Bernard Lee (who played M) and was gifted to the vendor (referred to as 'your boy' in above letter). The auction website claimed that according to EON Productions - the 'call list' for this scene (list of props required for filming) included 'a gun' however, said gun was not available at the time of filming, so Bernard Lee brought in his own. Later in the film, a Walther PP, not a PPK, was used. The Auction stated that it was likely that Bernard Lee's 'live and unregistered' PPK was inappropriate for filming on location and EON's PP was the only substitute available. According to Humbert & Ellis this was therefore the first of the famous James Bond Walther PPKs to appear in a Bond film.

Bond fans on AJB were quick to point out that the gun in the particular scene was actually a PP as well, not a PPK, casting doubts over the story of Lee and the claims of the auction house.

Bids for this item were about to start at £30,000, but now the auction is taken off altogether.

It is not yet known if the item will still be auctioned with a different, more nuanced story.

golden gun factory entertainment 2019

The Golden Gun prop is the signature weapon of the ‘$1 million dollar per shot’ assassin, Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee), as featured in the The Man With the Golden Gun (1974). Scaramanga’s Golden Gun was made up of seemingly innocuous separate elements that when combined created a deadly single shot handgun, a weapon that was not quite deadly enough to best 007.

The Golden Gun is certainly one of the most iconic weapons of the James Bond series, and perhaps one of the most widely recognized cinematic weapons of all time.

The Replica

This stunning 1:1 scale prop replica of the Golden Gun, officially licensed by Danjaq LLC and EON Productions, has been created after meticulous study and research of the original props in the EON archives as well as interviews with original cast and crew.

A first edition of this gun was released by Factory Entertainment in 2011. This new version is based on that model but it comes in a different display box and the assembly of the gun is more stable and it’s much heavier.

The 2019 edition of the Golden Gun is limited to 500 pieces, on a first come first serve basis.

Factory Entertainment Golden Gun prop replica

The replica can be assembled and disassembled into its machined metal, 18ct gold plated component parts, exactly as per the original prop.

Fountain Pen
Forming the ‘barrel’ of the replica, the pen screws directly into the body of the lighter. Includes removable thread cap. An orange marking has been added to the end of the barrel to comply with modern regulations concerning replica weapons.

Brioni three-piece suit Pierce Brosnan James Bond GoldenEye

The suit is made by Brioni, the bespoke menswear couture house who created the majority of the luxury suits worn by Brosnan in the role of James Bond. Brosnan was integral to the process of developing Bond’s look, and was consulted on how his character would dress throughout his tenure. As costume designer Lindy Hemming later recounted: “We wanted him to look modern, but not trendy like someone in advertising… Pierce’s own demands were that the designs had to reflect the lightness of modern man, but still be svelte and smooth.”

The suit is made of blue wool with a silk-effect Brioni logo lining. The suit was made specially for Brosnan in the role, with the jacket labelled “Brioni, Roma” and featuring an Angels & Bermans costumiers label, which reads “1995 Goldeneye Pierce Brosnan”. James Bond’s (Pierce Brosnan) hero Walther PPK Pistol with silencer and holster from Martin Campbell’s Bond movie Goldeneye is the highest valued Bond item of this auction. Bond used his Walther PPK throughout much of the film, from his infiltration of the Soviet chemical weapons facility (when the pistol was fitted with a silencer), to his meeting with Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane). Colonel Ourumov (Gottfried John) later used Bond’s weapon to kill Defence Minister Mishkin (Tchéky Karyo) and a guard, framing Bond for the crime.

Pierce Brosnan James Bond Walther PPK Holster GoldenEye

The Walther PPK was Bond’s gun of choice throughout the series, up to and including Tomorrow Never Dies, when he then switched to the Walther P99. In The Making of Goldeneye by Garth Pearce, armourer Charlie Bodycomb explains that a real, blank-firing Walther PPK was used in close-up, because gun experts in the audience would be able to tell the difference.

The lot consists of a hero Walther PPK pistol, a detachable silencer, and a holster. The Walther PPK is made of metal with an acrylic grip and has the serial number “811590”. The silencer is attached to the pistol using a screw fitting onto the barrel.

The gun has been sympathetically deactivated and still features a functioning trigger, hammer, magazine release and safety. The Galco holster is leather with an elasticated strap. The weapon and holster show some wear from production use and age, including some scuffing and scratches on the pistol itself and also on the silencer. Presented on a custom-made display featuring information about the set, the lot is also accompanied by three certificates of authentication from Bapty, the armourers for the production, and the pistol’s certificate of deactivation.

The spy wore two different holsters in the film: a figure-hugging one, which maintained the smooth line of his suit; and a larger alternative Galco holster that allowed the performer to holster or draw the Walther PPK quickly and stylishly. This holster is of the former variety, worn by Bond beneath his Bioni tailored suit, and secured with a strip of Velcro.

The semi-automatic pistol features a polymer frame with a metal chamber and slide. “Walther” is etched onto both sides of the slide and cast into both sides of the grip. The magazine is released by pressing a small lever at the base of the trigger guard.

Robert King's Lapel Pin from The World Is Not Enough

English

In The World Is Not Enough (1999), Sir Robert King (David Calder) is seen wearing a metal and enamel lapel pin of Celtic knot design, set with three circular greenish enamel plaques with triangular symbols and the letter K.

The pin is part of the plot, as it kills Robert King when it sparks an explosion when he gets close to the money that Bond recovered in the pre-title sequence of the film. As explained by Bill Tanner: "The money was dipped in urea, in effect, a fertiliser bomb. Having handled the money, the water on 007's hands started a chemical reaction. In one of the notes the metal anti-counterfeiting strip had been replaced with magnesium, which acted as a detonator. And King's lapel pin was switched for a copy, which contained a radio transmitter to trigger the blast. In other words, he set off the bomb that killed him."

In Raymond Benson's novelization of The World Is Not Enough, and possibly early / alternate versions of the film screenplay which can be found online, the pin is called the 'Eye of the Glens'. We can find this line in the explanation of Tanner: "King always wore a pin in his lapel, an heirloom called the Eye of the Glens; but someone switched it for a copy, a ceramic micro-circuit emitting an electronic signature."

It later turns out that King's daughter, Elektra King (Sophie Marceau) had switched the lapel pin for a duplicate containing a transmitter which triggered the explosive charge within the stolen money. Elektra later presents the 'real' pin to M (Judi Dench), explaining "he would have wanted you to have it". As M opens the case revealing the pin, Elektra confesses "it's very valuable you know, I just couldn't let it explode with the rest of him".

In 2012, during the 50 Years of Bond auction, Christie's offered one of the original props, giving us a very close look at the pin. The auction offered the lapel pin in a green case with Bond archive label. It also came with the programme reading "A Memorial Service for Sir Robert King, King Family Chapel, Loch Lamont, Glen Darrock Estate, 3.00pm" with the full programme inside, including psalms, readings, a congregational hymn and ending with "Tea and cakes back at the mansion." Judi Dench as M is seen holding an identical programme following King's funeral.
The original lapel pin was eventually sold for GBP 6,250.

In 2019, a small series of very close replicas was made by Bond fan Kan Phaobunjong, see photos on the left. Only 20 were made of this prop, which was 3D designed and printed, and created by a professional jeweller in 925 Silver and 9K gold. The gold was used instead of the green enamel of the original. Each piece was marked 'AJB' in reference to the AJB007 James Bond forum, and TX007 in reference to the creator's username Texas007 on the forum. If you're interested in one of these silver and gold prop replica lapel pins, please send a message.

Safin Mask Replicas by Factory Entertainment

Factory Entertainment has released a licensed replica of the mask worn by No Time To Die villain Safin.

In the movie No Time To Die, James Bond is on the trail of Safin (played by Rami Malek), a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology. But who is this mysterious adversary and why is he wearing a Noh-style mask?

While we wait until September to find out, Safin’s masks have been carefully recreated for collectors as limited edition prop replicas by Factory Entertainment, the company that has replicated many Bond gadgets including the Golden Gun, GoldenEye device, Jaws teeth, tarot cards, SPECTRE ring and the SPECTRE mask.

The No Time To Die Safin Mask is also available as a Fragmented Mask, and as part of a Mask Twin Set. The masks have been beautifully crafted from the prop masks now held in the Bond Archive. The masks are numbered and come with a numbered plaque, wooden display stand, booklet and certificate of authenticity.

The film masks were designed by Costume Designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb with inspiration from traditional Japanese Noh masks, a feature of classical Japanese dance-drama since the 15th century.

“The intention was to create a ‘pure’, expressionless, clean mask to counter the aggression of the character,” Suttirat says, “but also, to underscore a camouflage necessity in the pivotal scene set in the snowy Norwegian landscape. Safin appears in snow gear - white from head to toe in a white landscape - hidden in plain sight until not hidden, and quite startling when moved out of the snow and into the interior“.

NO TIME TO DIE SAFIN MASK PROP REPLICA

As seen in No Time To Die, the full Noh-inspired mask is exclusive to the 007 Store and comes in a collectors box with a prop story booklet, a certificate of authenticity, wooden display stand, numbered limited edition plaque and detachable cord fittings. Made in a numbered series of 500.

£295 / $349.99

Available on the 007 Store (UK/EU/International) and 007 Store USA.

NO TIME TO DIE SAFIN MASK PROP REPLICA – FRAGMENTED EDITION

In the film the mask suffers a dramatic fate, and this prop replica replicates the damage. With carefully constructed and reproduced splintering detail, the mask replica comes with all the collector’s extras and is one of a numbered series of 500.

£295 / $349.99

Available on the 007 Store (UK/EU/International) and 007 Store USA and on the Factory Entertainment website and the Entertainment Earth shop.

To celebrate the first iconic scene where we see James Bond (Sean Connery) in a Bond film, Factory Entertainment has released a limited edition prop replica Dr. No Casino Plaque Set.

During the Casino scene at Le Cercle (Les Ambassadeurs Club), James Bond plays a game of chemin de fer using cash plaques and for the first time introduces himself with "Bond. James Bond". The Factory Entertainment James Bond Dr. No Casino Plaques Prop Replica features three reproductions, based on the plaques used in filming, now held in the Bond Archives.

For filming, real plaques were loaned to lend an air of authenticity. Uniformed security guards stood watch off-camera and once filming wrapped, all but a very few plaques were returned to the casino.

The prop replica set contains three plaques of £50, £100, £500 in heavyweight acrylic.

The design feature an illustration of Les Ambassadors, 5 Hamilton Place, home to Le Cercle. Modern materials have been used in place of obsolete vintage materials and the serial numbers on each plaque have been modified for legal compliance reasons. Each plaque has flame-polished edges, inlaid mother of pearl-effect screen-printed artwork and engraved serial numbers.

The set is presented in a gift box, with magnetic closure and an individually numbered certificate of authenticity booklet.

Solitaire's Tarot Of the Witches cards are an iconic piece of Bond history, playing a central role in the supernatural world of Live And Let Die.

The producers of the film were keen to avoid any of the typical occult stereotypes that were frequently seen in films of the period that featured tarot. So Scottish artist Fergus Hall was commissioned to paint unique art as the centerpieces for Solitaire’s iconic cards.

A traditional tarot card deck contains 78 cards, however the compressed tight deadlines of film production meant that only 27 different paintings, therefore only 27 different prop cards, could be completed in time.

A licensed deck of 78 Tarot Cards was made available in stores when Live And Let Die premiered in theaters.

The vintage deck of James Bond 007 Tarot Cards from the 1970s had a blue back (instead of red seen in the film) and came in a case with a book

These vintage sets can still easily be found on eBay.

This same deck was later re-branded as ‘The Tarot of the Witches’ and remains popular with tarot practitioners and enthusiasts to this day. However, both these decks feature significantly revised and edited artwork that was produced after filming had been completed and does not match what was seen in the film.

The Factory Entertainment team meticulously digitally restored high-resolution scans of the original prop cards in the EON Productions archive.

Factory Entertainment released their first replica set of the cards in 2010. That set came with 25 cards plus 2 extra Lovers cards, making a total of 27 cards in the set.

The helmet matches the one worn by Connery on-screen through the lens serial number and a small chip on the left side of the helmet’s metal cinecamera.

Two helmets were made for the production, one worn by Connery for close-ups and one worn by the autogyro stunt pilot, Wing Commander Ken Wallis. Both ended up in Wallis’ possession after the production and there are subtle differences between the two, including the shape of the cinecamera and the size of its lens. After production, the helmet was painted black, but it has since been sympathetically restored.

Goldeneye (1995)

James Bond’s (Pierce Brosnan) three-piece suit from Martin Campbell’s Bond movie GoldenEye. Bond wore his Brioni suit as he came face-to-face with his old ally Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean). After Bond and Natalya (Izabella Scorupco) escaped from Trevelyan’s clutches they found themselves being interrogated by Russian Defence Minister Mishkin (Tcheky Karyo), before chasing General Ourumov (Gottfried John) through the streets of St Petersburg in a tank.

goldeneye suit brioni pierce brosnan

The suit is made by Brioni, the bespoke menswear couture house that created the majority of the luxury suits worn by Brosnan in the role of James Bond. Brosnan was integral to the process of developing Bond’s look, and was consulted on how his character would dress throughout his tenure. As costume designer Lindy Hemming later recounted: “We wanted him to look modern, but not trendy like someone in advertising. Pierce’s own demands were that the designs had to reflect the lightness of modern man, but still be svelte and smooth.”

The suit is made of blue wool with a silk-effect Brioni logo lining. The suit was made especially for Brosnan in the role, with the jacket labelled “Brioni, Roma” and featuring an Angels & Bermans costumiers label, which reads “1995 Goldeneye Pierce Brosnan”. The waistcoat and trousers both feature a similar description within. A white shirt and tie have been added to complete the look of the costume, which is presented on a custom-made display featuring the film title and a description of the bespoke outfit.

Estimate. £10,000 - 15,000

222. Xenia Onatopp’s (Famke Janssen) Helicopter Costume

Goldeneye (1995)

Xenia Onatopp’s (Famke Janssen) costume from Martin Campbell’s Bond movie GoldenEye. Onatopp, the Soviet assassin who worked for renegade 00 agent Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean), wore her costume during the final scenes of the film as she chased down Bond (Pierce Brosnan) in Cuba. She rappelled from a helicopter and fought Bond, who managed to reconnect her safety rope and shoot the helicopter down.

The costume consists of a nylon woven top with padded shoulders and chest; a pair of nylon trousers with plastic zips down the length of each leg; a black leather belt with a metal buckle and ring loops; and a black-and-purple safety harness with plastic clips and adjusters. Also included is a black-and-white still showing Onatopp in the film, a printed costume design and a page of printed storyboards depicting the character’s death. The garments display minor wear from production use and age, and the lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from EON.

Estimate. £8,000 - 12,000

223. James Bond’s (Pierce Brosnan) Hero Walther PPK

Goldeneye (1995)

James Bond’s (Pierce Brosnan) hero Walther PPK pistol and silencer from Martin Campbell’s Bond movie GoldenEye. Bond used his Walther PPK throughout the film, from his infiltration of the Soviet chemical weapons facility (where the pistol was fitted with a silencer), to his meeting with Valentin Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane). Colonel Ourumov (Gottfried John) later used Bond’s weapon to kill Defence Minister Mishkin (Tcheky Karyo) and a guard, framing Bond for the crime.

The Walther PPK was Bond’s weapon of choice throughout the series, up to and including Tomorrow Never Dies, when he then switched to the Walther P99. In The Making of GoldenEye by Garth Pearce, armourer Charlie Bodycomb explains that a real, blank-firing Walther PPK was used in close-up, because gun experts in the audience would be able to tell the difference.

The Walther PPK is made of blued steel with an acrylic grip, and has the serial number “811590”. The silencer is attached to the pistol using a screw fitting via a threaded barrel. The pistol is sympathetically deactivated and features a functioning trigger, hammer, magazine release and safety. The lot is also accompanied by a certificate of authentication from Bapty, the production armourers, and the pistol’s certificate of deactivation.

Estimate. £30,000 - 50,000

224. James Bond’s (Pierce Brosnan) Holster

Goldeneye (1995)

James Bond’s (Pierce Brosnan) holster from Martin Campbell’s Bond movie GoldenEye. Bond used holsters to carry his iconic Walther PPK pistol, and had two differently designed holsters in the film: a figure-hugging one to maintain the smooth line of his suit, and a larger Galco holster, which allowed Brosnan to draw the weapon quickly and stylishly.

This is the Galco holster, and it features a moulded leather pocket, a leather loop which goes over the shoulder, and an elasticated strap which clips to the trouser band. The lot is also accompanied by a certificate of authentication from Bapty, the production armourers.

Estimate. £6,000 - 8,000

James Bond Oddjob Hat Prop Replica Goldfinger Numbered Edition

The prop replica hat is made in a series of just 1,000 and comes presented in a museum quality case, allowing you to display it in a number of ways.

History of the hat

For the film Goldfinger, Square Crown Bowler style hats were originally chosen from a selection at London theatrical and film costumier, M.Berman Ltd.

oddjob hat

These hats were given to Oscar-winning special effects expert John Stears, who modified them and created different stunt hats for different uses. One of the hats had with a full underbrim which was made with metal supplied by New Pro Foundries Middlesex.

Another hat was given an embedded metal rim that allowed it to be firmly fixed in place between the Fort Knox bars on set at Pinewood.

A third style was modified with an internal mechanism that allowed it to travel along a guide wire and be controlled as it moved through the air.

Famous hat makers Lock & Co. hatters were then commissioned to make the custom hats for Oddjob to wear with his costume.

About the replica

The prop replica was created after careful study of the original SFX hat with the embedded rim in the EON Productions archives, as well as reference photographs and original production drawings. The original archive hat was hand-measured, and a 3D model was created from these measurements in order to create wooden molds, or ‘forms’, that were then used to press and stretch woolen felt into the correct shapes.

Screen accurate finishing details include black edging ribbon and a satin hat band on the exterior, satin lining and leather band on the interior, laser cut brushed stainless steel metal ring.

Other Oddjob hats

Some of the original screen-used hats were auctioned over the years. One of the hats sold at Christie's in 1998 for £62,000. Another hat, owned by actor Harold Sakata himself, sold for just over $30,000 at Julien's Auctions in 2006. Another one showed up at Antiques Roadshow in 2020.

Lock & Co currenty offers the Oddjob hat (without steel rim) in their James Bond collection, for £795.00, read more here.

James Bond Jaws Teeth Silver-plated Paperweight 3d

7’2” actor Richard Kiel was first cast as villainous metal-toothed strongman Jaws for The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and proved so popular that he reappeared in Moonraker (1979) two years later.

The film’s production designer Ken Adam gave Katharina Kubrick in the art department the job of designing the dentures. Art director Peter Lamont sent Kiel to his dentist in Buckinghamshire for the moulds to be cast. The teeth were then made of a surgical-grade cobalt steel alloy and although uniquely shaped to fit, could only be worn for a few minutes at a time before becoming uncomfortable.
